Genius Hour 2.3 - Advertisement

    Welcome back to my blog! I am starting to get really excited about the future prep night, and so far the project is headed in the right direction! This week Jenna and I got a lot done. Of course we waited until Thursday to start, because that is the only time we can come together and have time to work on the project. Unfortunately, Laurel was unable to help this week because she was selling booklets at the 4C tournament for student council. This left the task of up to Jenna and I. We had the plan to start working on advertisement for our future prep night. We started by looking at our flyer that we handed to teachers and went from there. We knew that the flyer had the information that we needed to put on the poster.

    We started by going on the computer and looking up google drawings. Then we started to plan out the flyer and put it all together. We had to make sure we included the date, time, why they should come, and topics that will be included for the night. After we typed what we wanted on the flyer, we started to mess around with the text fonts and size. We wanted to make it visually appealing and so it caught people's attention. 

    After we were both happy with how it looked, we went down to the library to print it. While printing, we talked to Ms. Mott about how many copies we should make and how to advertise it. She told us to make 1,000 copies, which seemed like a little much, so we decided on 50 copies for right now. Ms. Mott also gave us the idea of putting the posters on bullitiens around the school. 

    After talking to Mrs. Mott and printing our first poster, we went to find Mr. Gundlach to make sure he approved it and to ask if it was okay to hang it around school. Luckily, we actually found him right outside the library. He took a good look at it and said it was approved and we needed to go to the office and get a stamp on it from Mrs. Koehler.  Jenna and I then went to the office, and since Mrs. Koehler was busy, Mrs. Lesh stamped it for us! After that was all done we finally went back to Mrs. Crews's and asked her politely to request 50 copies for us to start advertising around the school. 

    Overall, this week was very successful and we followed our action plan completely. Next week we plan to start hanging up the advertisements around school and figuring out exactly how the night will go. So far we have not really encountered any big issues with the project, but I know as a group, Laurel, Jenna, and I, can overcome anything. I am very pleased with how the project is going and I have a feeling it will be a success!
